The installation by Rapid – one of the UK’s leading suppliers of permanent climate control solutions – at Nissan’s logistics centre near Lutterworth is now ensuring optimal ambient conditions are maintained throughout the centre’s reception area, meeting rooms, offices, IT server room and canteen.

The decision to install a new system at the facility, which was built in 1987, came because the existing heating and cooling system was no longer able to deliver to the standards required by Nissan, especially given the increase in staff at the site.

Rapid proposed an energy efficient VRF system using Mitsubishi ceiling concealed ducted units to provide heating and cooling. It was specifically designed to cope with fluctuating temperatures and the differing needs of the various areas in the building, through independent controls in each area.

The system also incorporates a centralised controller which can be accessed remotely by Rapid to monitor performance of all the equipment installed on site.

Rapid were chosen for the project due to the cost-effectiveness and suitability of their proposal, their experience in large scale installations of this type, and their ability to complete the work, within normal working periods, and within the required seven-week timescale.

The environmentally friendly equipment supplied, which is featured on the Energy Technology product list, has also enabled Nissan to claim tax relief on a substantial proportion of the cost of the equipment through the Government’s Enhanced Capital Allowance scheme (ECA).ddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddddd
