Health centres and dental practices have an extra incentive when contemplating the installation of air conditioning. Comfort cooling is not the only consideration, as reduction in patient stress levels contributes to both easier and quicker completion of each consultation.

Using a building company which specialises in work for the dental sector, Rapid Air Conditioning surveyed the whole area both for temperature control demands and how to keep visible evidence of air conditioning equipment to a minimum.

Split Units were used, either Wall or Ceiling Mounted Units as appropriate to the particular area, and all the pipework was concealed within partitions and false ceilings. A total of fifteen different areas were fitted with air conditioning units including some which were relocated from previous premises. Due to limited external space, special consideration was also given to the location and number of external condenser units. The final system design allowed all fifteen internal areas to be serviced by just 10 external units.

The air conditioning work on this relocation accounted for only 10% of the overall costs but the benefits to both the practice and patients are substantially more.
